Article Types Published
IJASERD publishes two main types of manuscripts: original research articles and review articles, all of which must align with the journal’s scope in agricultural social economics, agribusiness, and rural development.
-
Original research articles present empirical findings that contribute new insights into agricultural socioeconomics, agribusiness management, farmer behavior, agricultural policy, rural community development, farming systems, agricultural institutions, environmental and resource economics, and other interdisciplinary topics related to rural societies. These articles should clearly articulate the research problem, employ rigorous and transparent methodologies, present comprehensive results, and provide critical discussion of the findings, their implications, and their contributions to the relevant field. IJASERD does not accept simple descriptive case studies unless the case demonstrates substantial theoretical, methodological, or practical significance for agricultural and rural development.
-
Review articles, on the other hand, offer a comprehensive and critical synthesis of existing literature on topics within the journal’s focus, such as agricultural socioeconomics, agribusiness systems, rural innovation, community empowerment, local economic development, agricultural value chains, agricultural institutions, rural governance, and socio-ecological interactions in rural areas. Review articles should critically analyze, evaluate, and integrate previous research, highlight knowledge gaps, and propose future research directions. The format and length of review articles are flexible, allowing authors to explore topics in depth and to present a thorough conceptual or methodological overview.
All articles published in IJASERD must be based on rigorous, ethical, and high-quality research and meet the highest standards of academic integrity. The journal encourages the submission of manuscripts that are innovative, original, and impactful, offering meaningful contributions to theory, policy, methodology, and practice in agricultural social economics, agribusiness, and rural development.
Publication Frequency
International Journal of Agricultural Social Economics and Rural Development (IJASERD) publishes semi-annual issues from April to September and from October to March. The journal aims to provide timely, regular publication of high-quality research in relevant fields of study.
Language
IJASERD requires that all submitted manuscripts be written in clear, correct, and academic English. Authors are expected to use precise, concise, and grammatically accurate language to ensure clarity and readability. Proper spelling, punctuation, and scholarly writing conventions must be followed. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to use professional language editing services before submission to ensure the quality of the manuscript.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
IJASERD provides a clear, transparent fee structure that prospective authors can access before preparing or submitting their manuscripts. The journal does not charge any processing fee at the initial stage. Authors are not required to pay any fees during submission, preliminary evaluation, or the peer-review process.
IJASERD applies only one primary fee, the Article Processing Charge (APC), which is 500,000 IDR (30 USD). The APC is paid only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication (final acceptance). This fee covers the full cost of publication, including peer-review management, editorial processing, manuscript editing, online hosting, typesetting, metadata management, and long-term digital preservation to ensure sustainable open access. No APC is requested before acceptance, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the editorial process.
In addition, IJASERD offers a fast-track review service for authors who require accelerated handling of their manuscripts. This service costs 1,000,000 IDR (60 USD) and expedites administrative processing and scheduling. However, the fast-track option does not affect the independence, objectivity, or rigor of peer review or editorial decision-making. All manuscripts regular or fast-track undergo the same double-blind peer-review procedure.
All collected fees are used to support editorial activities, maintain the publication system, operate the open-access platform, and sustain technological infrastructure. Payment instructions and bank account details will be provided only after the manuscript receives the final acceptance decision. Authors must submit proof of APC payment via email to ijaserd@uho.ac.id and via WhatsApp, according to the provided guidelines.
IJASERD offers fee waivers or reductions for eligible authors, including those from low-income countries, those with limited institutional funding, and those whose manuscripts are considered to have significant scientific value. This policy ensures inclusive access to publication and supports the dissemination of knowledge without financial barriers.
It is important to emphasize that neither the APC nor the fast-track fee influences editorial decisions. Manuscripts are evaluated exclusively based on scientific quality, methodological rigor, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. IJASERD is an open-access journal, meaning all published articles are freely available online to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Revenue Sources
IJASERD operates through a transparent and ethically accountable funding model that is clearly communicated on the journal’s website. The journal derives its revenue from several sources that support its editorial, administrative, and technological operations. The primary source of revenue is the Article Processing Charge (APC), which authors pay only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication. This fee contributes to the costs of peer review management, editorial processing, online hosting, typesetting, and long-term digital preservation. The journal also receives institutional support from Universitas Halu Oleo, specifically through the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Agriculture, which provides administrative assistance and infrastructure essential for the journal’s sustainability.
In addition to APCs and institutional support, IJASERD may generate supplementary revenue through relevant advertising, grants, academic sponsorships, or donations that align with the journal’s mission and scope. Such external funding sources are carefully managed to ensure they do not compromise the journal’s editorial independence. Importantly, IJASERD affirms that no revenue source whether APCs, sponsorships, or institutional funding influences editorial decisions. All manuscripts are evaluated solely based on their scholarly merit, methodological rigor, originality, and relevance to the journal’s field.
By adopting a diversified but ethical revenue model, IJASERD is committed to maintaining financial transparency, ensuring sustainable operations, and supporting open access dissemination while upholding the highest standards of academic integrity.
Advertising
IJASERD maintains a transparent and ethical advertising policy to ensure that advertising does not compromise the integrity, independence, or scientific objectivity of the journal. The journal may display advertisements that are relevant to the fields of agricultural sciences, socio-economic development, rural studies, academic events, scientific products, or other educational and research-oriented activities. All advertisements must align with IJASERD's mission, values, and academic scope.
Decisions regarding the acceptance, placement, and suitability of advertisements are made exclusively by the journal's editorial and administrative team, independent of the peer review and editorial decision-making processes. Advertisements will never be linked to editorial outcomes and do not influence the evaluation, acceptance, or rejection of manuscripts. IJASERD ensures that ads are clearly distinguished from editorial content and are presented in a manner that does not confuse readers or imply endorsement of the advertised products or services.
For online display, advertisements may appear contextually or randomly, but they are never generated based on reader behaviour, manuscript submissions, or editorial data. All advertising content is subject to review to ensure it adheres to ethical guidelines, does not contain misleading claims, and maintains professionalism appropriate for an academic publication.
